Annalisa Burgos, of HGTV's FrontDoor.com gives these tips:
Get Pre-Approved: Contact your bank and other lenders so you can compare loan terms and rates. They will pre-approve you for a max purchase price. That shows sellers you are serious.
Location, location: Shop for homes in the best areas you can afford. Even if you don't have kids, buying a home near sough-after schools is an instant property value booster.
Work with a pro: As a buyer, you don't pay real estate agents-the seller does. But you still want to work with someone who will really listen to you. Consider an exclusive buyer's agent.
Keep expectations real: Shopping for your first place can be exciting. But in real estate, deals can fall through. Don't skip a home inspection. Protect yourself with contract contingencies. _________________ Site Admin, Mom to Sarah (4), Emma (3), and Cooper (1 yo) and PROUD ARMY WIFE!!!!
